Join us in coming together to celebrate your CSU common threads.

Alumni of all ages and backgrounds are invited to attend a cocktail evening in Albury to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.

Debra Unsworth, Assistant Commissioner at the Australian Tax Office

 

As a leader, Debra has been involved with the development and implementation of strategy across a range of significant changes in areas ranging from:

  • Business and payment system development
  • Legal and Insolvency cases in the advanced stages of debt recovery action
  • Superannuation
  • A major project re-designing payment processes as part of Tax Reform

Debra is currently Assistant Commissioner in the Client Account Services Business Line. She has responsibility for Enterprise Work Management, including the capture of all forms and payments, workflow and work allocation within the ATO. Debra is also currently responsible for the delivery of projects that support the shift to electronic lodgement and payment.  The portfolio has over 1300 staff located over 8 geographic locations.

Recently Debra was asked to speak at the Institute of Public Administration of Australia (IPAA) Regional Conference in Albury about attracting and retaining public sector professionals in regional Australia.

Debra, an CSU alumnus will speak about her experience at CSU and her career journey.

Debra is based in Albury, NSW.



Ms Kathryn Pitkin, Deputy Chancellor, Charles Sturt University

Ms Kathryn Pitkin was elected as Deputy Chancellor in 2007. Ms Pitkin was a former senior officer in the NSW TAFE and held the position of Campus Manager for the Bathurst, Walgett and Lightning Ridge campuses of TAFE NSW Western Institute. 

She was educated, and has always worked, in public education as she is committed to the access to, and quality of, public education.  

Ms Pitkin brings an in-depth understanding of the VET sector to support CSU's approach to dual sector programs.

 

Dr Krissy Wilson - CSU Lecturer - School of Psychology 

Krissy has had rather an eclectic career starting out as a professional actress. Her main claim to fame being that she once played a prostitute on The Bill .She then joined British Airways and worked as cabin crew for six years. Whilst working for BA she studied for a BSc in Psychology and went on to complete a PhD at Goldsmiths, University of London. In 2007 she emigrated to Australia taking up a position at the University of Tasmania. She began working at CSU in March 2011.

Her doctoral thesis was on the topic of memory for anomalous events. Her main research area is in the field of Anomalistic Psychology - exploring psychological and physiological bases of belief in extraordinary phenomena. She is a keen member of the Skeptic's organisation worldwide and has given talks and presentations both nationally and internationally and regularly appears on national radio and television to discuss a variety of belief related topics. Other areas of research interest include the creation of false memories, the psychology of belief and individual differences.
